ABUJA: AGF Orders CCT To Resume Saraki's Trials

Following the Supreme Court’s recent verdict in an appeal filed by the President of the Senate, Dr. Bukola Saraki which ruled that the Code of Conduct Tribunal, CCT has competent jurisdiction on the matter instituted against Saraki, the office of the Attorney General of the Federation, it was learnt has directed the CCT to resume its proceedings which was stalled due to the appeal in the superior court.
Saraki is facing a 13-count charge for allegedly falsification of assets declared on assumption of the office of the President of the Senate as well as his failure to declare his assets when he was governor of Kwara State between 2003 to 2011..
Whilst dismissing the suit, Justice Walter Onnoghen, who led the 6-man panel of the Bench stated emphatically that the competence of the CCT on the applicant on such matters are absolute, hence ruled that the application filed by Saraki lacked merit.
