4. Memoirs of Michael Jackson (1958-2009)
Adieu
Wacko Jacko! You brought fun, happiness and mirth to a whole generation of
humanity. You were a living reality and part of my growing up. And when you
died, part of my youth died with you.
2. WOMAN-WORLD: Nollywood Actress, Kate Henshaw Advocates Return Of African Hair
Kate Henshaw |
NOLLYWOOD star, Kate Henshaw, has taken the campaign for natural hair among women folk to the Federal Capital Territory, Abuja and vowed to team up with Adanna Ewezor, frontline promoter of natural hair, to ensure that Nigerian women embrace ongoing campaign for return of the lost beauty and dignity of the African woman.
Henshaw was among more than 400 ladies that converged on
Abuja on June 16-17 to add voice to the campaign for the African woman to
return to her roots by retaining her originality. The event was the maiden
edition of African hair summit held at Sheraton Hotels and Towers, where
summiteers resolved that there is no alternative to going natural, particularly
in hairdo for women...
Henshaw, who volunteered to be an ambassador for the “go
natural” advocacy, said the African woman is naturally beautiful and does not
need make-up and fixing of foreign hair to look good.
According to a report, she said she cut and went
full-blown natural more than five years ago, when she could no longer stand the
pain and stress of the hair dryer, with the attendant health risks of using
chemical components, including relaxer, conditioner among others.
“If I, five and half years ago, decided to go natural,
you too can do it”, she told the participants, adding: “I swore, since then
that relaxer would not touch these hairs again.”
“African hair is
the most beautiful hair. Let your take- away from here be that you are
beautiful without those relaxers. Do not just carry another person’s hair that
you do not even know where it is from, be yourself”, she said.
The frontline actress reportedly added when she cut her
hairs on set at Enugu, most of her pals were doubtful until she confidently stormed
the premiere of Funke Akindele’s film, ‘Jenifa’ in small hairs and played her roles.

4. Memoirs of Michael Jackson (1958-2009)
By Barr. Kingsley Ughe
Michael Jackson |
You
spent the best part of your life trying to escape from yourself and the reality
of your personal world.
A disembodied spirit, You were a ghost trapped between two worlds...a soul perpetually crying over spilt milk.
A disembodied spirit, You were a ghost trapped between two worlds...a soul perpetually crying over spilt milk.
They transformed you into an ethereal form, a light
upon a drab world , burning away slowly and always ,while no one pays heed to
the inner torments of the light except the shines of the burning.
You chased fame and conquered fame. But the effort in itself, denied you a grip upon the solid material world in which the rest of humanity live. You lost touch with humour and little contact with ordinary life.
You chased fame and conquered fame. But the effort in itself, denied you a grip upon the solid material world in which the rest of humanity live. You lost touch with humour and little contact with ordinary life.
Amidst the frenzied beats of your soulful songs and
the never ending uproar for more from the maddening fans, you were begging for
attention, seeking an understanding, a recognition that you needed love, to be loved.
At the end, you were the fretful mystic, the child
before his God, terrified of this Universe and distrustful of the clamour to
make you a god. The infant , crying for divine guidance , sapped of all
strength and emotionally exhausted. Yes, your life remains a reminder to
humanity, that man, no matter the grandeur of the moment, is not a god !!!
