Lagos Resident On Yuletide Trip Faces Inferno, Loses Properties

A Lagos resident at Olusegun Street, Ira Quarters in Ojo Local Government Area who travelled with the entire household for the yuletide was yesterday recalled on emergency from his hometown by neighbours following an inferno that took everyone in the neighbourhood unaware and destroyed all belongings in his residence.
According to eye witnesses, the fire was believably caused by electric wiring in the man’s flat who they alleged failed to switch-off his electrical appliances before embarking on the journey. His adjoining co-tenants who said they first noticed a heavy smoke all over the roof and immediately raised alarm for help from other neighbours adding that they were handicapped since the owner of the flat travelled, hence no access to confront the fire squarely. He added that by the time neighbours arrived and succeeded to gain entry, the fire had destroyed all valuables in the house.
The State Fire Service was also sighted at the scene at the early hours of yesterday.
A resident who didn’t want his name in print regrettably said that a lot of people are accustomed to leaving their electrical appliances connected to power when on trip particularly the refrigerators adding that it’s high time people learnt from history.
The owner of the flat on arrival this evening was dumbfounded and looked helplessly weak, though surrounded by friends and neighbours who cheered him up.
