POLICE: Ntomchukwu, 6 Others Elevated to DIGs

POLICE Service Commission (PSC) on Monday approved the appointments of seven new Deputy Inspectors General of Police (DIGs) to oversee the seven departments of the Nigeria Police Force following the retirement of several Deputy and Assistant Inspectors General of Police in the penultimate week.

 

In a statement signed by the commission’s Public Relations Officer, Mr. Ikechukwu Ani, the PSC said the officers’ letters of promotion would be dispatched in due course. The officers and their new designations are:

Mr. Shuaibu Gambo (former Assistant Inspector General of Police) now DIG, Department of Finance and Administration.

Mr. Joshak Habila (Commissioner of Police, now DIG, Department of Operations...

Mr. Maigari Abbati Dikko, (former Commissioner of Police) now DIG, Department of Logistics and Supply.

Mr. H. M. Dagala (former Commissioner of Police) now DIG, Department of FCIID.

Mr. Emmanuel T. Inyang – DIG, Department of Training and Development.

Mr. Valentine Ntomchukwu, (former Commissioner of Police, Ogun State Command) now DIG, Department of Research and Planning.

Mr. Folusho A. Adebanjo – DIG, Department of ICT; and

Mr. Abdul Bube – AIG Force Secretary.

The statement added that the appointments had been conveyed to the Inspector General of Police (IGP), Mr. Ibrahim Idris, for implementation accordingly.

Ntomchukwu, who hails from Ihiala in Ihiala Local Government Area of Anambra State joined the Force as a Cadet Assistant Superintendent of Police in 1984. He obtained his B.Sc in Political Science from the University of Maiduguri and later bagged a Bachelor of Law (LL.B) from Lagos State University, Lagos before he was called to the bar.

The new DIG was promoted to the rank of Assistant Commissioner of Police in 2009 and was in charge of many offices including the Assistant Commissioner of Police, Administration in Oyo Command, Area Commander Owo, Ondo state, Area Commander, Gboko in Benue State and Area Commander Area H, Lagos.

He was later promoted to a Deputy Commissioner of Police in 2009 and had meritoriously served in Benue, Kogi, Kaduna and Federal Capital Territory Abuja before he was promoted Commissioner of Police in 2014 in-charge of Ogun State.

Ntomchukwu, a member of many professional bodies including the Nigerian Bar Association and International Association of Chiefs of Police (IACP) USA, is also a Fellow of Security Institute (fsi).
