ANAMBRA: Anglican Synod Commends Buhari, Obiano, Laments Over State Of Federal Roads In South-East, Others

AMICHI Anglican Community in Nnewi South Local Government Area of Anambra State has commended President Muhammadu Buhari over his determination to eradicate corruption and halt the menace of the dreaded Islamic sect, Boko Haram in the country which has terrorized the environment for some years, and pledged to continue to yield its supports to the administration.
However, it noted that the state of federal government roads in the south east geographical zone is in deplorable conditions and urged the President to declare state of emergency on some roads in the zone to make lives and movement a bit comfortable for the people...

These were contained in a 21 paragraph communiqué issued at the end of the 2nd session of the 3rd Synod of the Diocese of Amichi with the Theme, “Dare To Be A Daniel” which was declared open by its president, Rt. Rev. Ephraim Okechukwu Ikeakor, the Bishop, Diocese of Amichi, and signed by Ven.Henry O.R. Amobi, Clerical Synod Secretary, Lady Barr. Amaka Udogu, Chairman, Communiqué/Resolution Committee and the Rt. Rev. Ephraim O. Ikeakor, Bishop of Amichi diocese.
The Synod also commended the governor of Anambra State, Chief willie Obiano for his doggedness in adding values to the state from the point he took charge of the state particularly prompt payment of workers’ salaries stating that his award as the Best Governor of the year 2015 by the SUN Newspaper was indeed justifiable and meritorious.
Federal roads in the South East captioned in the communique include Onitsha-Nnewi-Amichi-Uga-Okigwe federal highway, Nnewi-Okigwe, Enugu-Onitsha, and Aba – Ikot Ekpene -Port Harcourt which the Synod said that rehabilitation of the roads will improve economic activities in the areas and the nation at large.
 “The Synod frowns at the abrupt manner with which the Federal Government removed subsidy on petroleum products, thereby throwing the nation into untold hardship and urges the government as a matter of urgency to expedite action towards fashioning out palliative measures to cushion the effects of the price hike in petroleum products and electricity tariff.
“The Synod commends the President and Commander-in-Chief of the Armed forces, His Excellency, Alhaji Mohammadu Buhari for his remarkable approach in tackling the Boko
Haram menace in the Country and his resolve to fight corruption in the country.
“The Synod urges the Federal Government not to limit the fight against corruption to the
administrative Cadre and those who are waging war against corruption should abstain from corrupt practices.
“The Synod notes with sadness the incessant bombing of oil installations by militant groups
thereby causing more damage to the battered economy and urges the Federal Government to urgently address meaningfully, the immediate and remote causes of these serious agitations with a view to finding lasting solution and restoring peace in the Niger Delta.
“The Synod also frowns at the senseless manner in which the Fulani herdsmen usurp people’s lands, killing people, violating human rights and destroying families and farm lands all over the country. The Synod advises the Federal Government and the legislative arms to enact laws, preventing these obnoxious actions of the herdsmen.
“The Fulani herdsmen should graze their cattle in their locality and then transport them for sale in other parts of the country. The Synod maintains that the proposed Grazing Reserve Bill should not be passed into law. The Synod condemns in strong terms the unprovoked killings of the IPOB members who were on a non-violent procession and demands that every citizen should be treated equally.
“The Synod urges Christian faithful to hold strongly on to their faith in God that whatever happens they will do what God says for such conviction will give them wisdom and stability in changing circumstances, believing that their future is secured in Christ.
“The Synod challenges the Church leaders not to assume that people who comply and conform are truly committed, but to challenge each believer with the truth and implication of commitment to Christ.
“The Synod urges the Church leaders and Christian parents to strictly plant in their congregation and children the word of God so that they will not be in danger of turning away from following Christ irrespective of the opposing forces to stand for Christ.
“The Synod frowns at the alarming rate at which the present day preachers and Church leaders are dangerously adjusting the Church’s Spiritual boundary with idolatry and worldliness, and urges them never to compromise God's standard on the altar of popular and cheap material prosperity.
“To the youths, the Synod urges them to cultivate the virtue of contentment, self control; hard work and holiness as these will enable them take advantage of opportunities without lettingopportunities take advantage of them.
“The Synod urges the Church leaders to go back to the teaching ministry of the gospel to allow the Gospel the congregation hears sink in, thereby making trusting and obeying God alone their purpose in life.
“The Synod urges the Governor of Anambra State to extend government presence in all towns and communities that make up the Diocese of Amichi and also to do something urgently to salvage the lives of the people of Amichi and Ekwulumili in connection with the federal road that runs across these towns, which is now a death trap.
“The Synod also passionately appeals to the state government to urgently do something tangible in providing sound and reliable health care to the rural people through the Diocese by releasing the fund promised the Diocese by the Anambra State government towards the completion of the Diocesan Hospital and the School of Nursing.
“In view of the rate at which the Church members, especially the youths, the elites and the rich are relapsing into idolatry, paganism and heathen practices in conformity with worldly standards and being fully aware that this is a dangerous trend as God will not hesitate to pour out his anger upon idolaters, the Synod challenges all and sundry to stand firm with the true God, irrespective of the pressure of the moment.
“The Synod urges Christian faithful to hold strongly on to their faith in God that whatever happens they will do what God says for such conviction will give them wisdom and stability in changing circumstances, believing that their future is secured in Christ”, it stated.
