| Okezie Ikpeazu |
GOVERNOR of Abia State, Dr Okezie
Ikpeazu has urged all Abians not to be moved by the Federal High Court ruling
on Monday which had ordered him to vacate the office of the governor of Abia
state on the ground that he submitted false documents to Independent National Electoral
Commission (INEC).
Justice Okon Abang of
the Federal High Court sitting in Abuja delivered the judgment in favor of Mr.
Uche Oga and directed the INEC to issue the plaintiff with a certificate of
return as the authentic candidate of the peoples Democratic Party (PDP) in the
previous election...
In a statement by the
Chief Press Secretary to the governor, Enyinnaya Appolos, Governor Ikpeazu, remains
confident that the judgment will be set aside and has already detailed his
legal team to file appeal against the judgment adding that the good works he
has started with the support of the Abians will certainly be concluded at the
right time.
He therefore urged his teeming supporters never to get distracted
recalling that similar judgment had occurred between and a candidate of another
party and ended favourably and meritoriously adding that he remains the
governor of Abia state despite the said judgment.
Ikpeazu maintained that
the judgment was baseless adding that as an appointee of the Abia State
Government from 2011 to 2014, when he served as the General Manager, Abia State
Passengers Integrated Manifest and Safety Scheme (ASPIMSS), and first Deputy
General Manager, Abia State Environmental Protection Agency (ASEPA) Aba and
Environs respectively, before his resignation in October 2014 to contest the
Governorship election in the state, his taxes were deducted at source, and when
he had need of his tax clearance in 2014, he applied to the Abia State Board of
Internal Revenue, and was duly issued with his tax receipts for the period in
question which he submitted to his party.
“Abians have passed through this road before. We are
used to their antics and for the umpteenth time would defeat them again”, he
said.
