Buhari Appoints Idris, Acting IGP As Arase Retires

PRESIDENT Muhammadu Buhari on Tuesday appointed Assistant Inspector General of Police (AIG) Ibrahim Idris as the new Inspector General of Police in replacement of Mr. Solomon Arase who is due for retirement.
In a statement signed by the Special Adviser to the President on Media and Publicity, Mr. Femi Adesina, the new Police boss will operate on acting capacity pending his confirmation by the Police Service Commission.

According to his profile as indicated in the statement, Idris hails from Kutigi, Lavun in Niger State, and was born on 15th January, 1959.

He holds degree in Law and Agriculture from the University of Maiduguri and Ahmadu Bello University, Zaria respectively. He was enlisted in the Nigerian Police Force in 1984.
