FORMER Lagos State
Commissioner of Sports and pro-democracy activist, Ademola Adeniji Adele has
passed on at the age of 60.
The former commissioner who
served in the first tenure of former Governor Babatunde Fashola administration
between 2007 and 2011, reportedly died early Thursday in India where he had
gone for a medical check-up after developing some complications.
An official of Lagos State government who spoke
on condition anonymity confirmed the development adding that said the state
governor, Akinwunmi Ambode, was preparing to announce it to the people of the
state.
Mr. Adeniji-Adele fought vehemently during the
military junta of late General Sani Abacha, against oppression and dictatorship
which lead to his incarceration for months on the orders of the late dictator.
