The Pulpit Mandate

GOD’S indelible mark is placed on every believer who has been adopted into the Christian family and is convincingly born of His Spirit. The very essence of the recreation is to adequately occupy the rightful position created by the creator of the universe as man in his natural being is encumbered by limitations. This argument is premised on the perception that the spiritual realm supersedes and therefore controls the physical.

Man is made of the spirit, soul and body and among them; the first determines the state of the others. However, all of them perform very distinct functions to a complete man. With the spirit, man relates with the spiritual, with the mind, he reasons and take decisions while with the body, he executes the resolutions of the mind on the physical world. As distinct as they appear, all work harmoniously in effecting a cause of actions. This is because the spirit exclusively exercises jurisdiction in the spiritual realm, nevertheless, a verdict taken in the spirit and duly transmitted to the soul (mind) will certainly be enforced in the bodily (physical) realm irrespective of good or negative.

This therefore indicates that every man is made of the three components, and a natural inclusive. A natural man with the associated spirit will always be imbued with evil tendencies in his heart.

Interestingly, the ordinary spirit in man is programmed by default for replacement with God’s Spirit the moment a man is born again and becomes a Christian. This is simply because light and darkness cannot run concurrently. The latter automatically gives way as soon as the former shows up. The godly spirit which takes abode in man from recreation is characterized by love, virtues, power and sound mind. The bible emphatically acknowledged this fact in John 1:5, “And the light shineth in darkness; and the darkness comprehended it not”.

Brethren, God has sumptuously made His goodly Spirit imputed in His children, and this is what differentiates a Christian from an ordinary earthly vessels. The spirit of God creates boldness and courage to surmount situations an

d circumstances. The scripture says, “For God has not given us the spirit of fear but of power, and of love, and of a sound mind”. 2 Timothy 1:7

So, what is left is to position ourselves strategically to be able to hear from the Lord. John 10:27 “My sheep hear my voice, and I know them, and they follow me”.

No wonder, Apostle Paul admonishes Christians to become bonded with the Word of God, “And now, brethren, I commend you to God, and to the word of his grace, which is able to build you up, and to give you inheritance among all them which are sanctified”. (Acts 20:32)

As we study His word and continuously focus on it as the mirror of our lives, our thoughts and spirit will gradually begin to align with what the word talks about. In no distant time, physical manifestations will begin inevitably.  2 Corinthians 3:18 says, “But we all, with open face beholding as in a glass the glory of the Lord, are changed into the same image from glory to glory, even as the Spirit of the Lord”.
