THE Independent Petroleum Marketers Association of Nigeria
(IPMAN), Kwara State chapter has said that its members will no longer abide by
the directive to peg the price of premium motor spirit popularly known as
petrol at the price of N86.50k per litre.
Chairman of the Kwara State Chapter, Mr Olanrewaju Okanlawon stated this in Ilorin on Friday saying that the members have resolved to sell the product based on the overhead cost on the product adding that insufficient supply of the product has led to the present scenario where its members resort to source for it from private depots who end up selling as high as N107 per litre.
According to him, it has become unrealistic for its members
to continue to comply with the directive from the Petroleum Pricing Regulatory
Agency (PPRA) on the price of the products knowing that the members sourced it
from private de[ports who fix its prices arbitrarily based on the operational
costs.
“The NNPC does not have product and we are forced to be
sourcing from private depots amd the price is very high”, Okanlawon said.
However, the Operations Controller, Department of Petroleum
Resources, Kwara State, Mr. Salvation Phillips maintained the earlier position
of the government that all marketers must comply to the government pump-prices
approved by the federal government.
