Felix Ibru Dies At 80

FORMER Governor of Delta State, Olorogun (Senator) Felix Ovudoroye Ibru is dead. Ibru died at the age of 80 on Saturday 12, 2016.

In a statement by the Public Relations Officer of the Urhobo Progressive Union (interim Committee), Mr. Josiah Ntekume, the union was shocked on the death and prayed for God’s strength to bear the great loss.

“The death of Olorogun Felix Ibru today came as a shock to the Urhobo nation. A heart has stopped beating. A good soul has ascended to heaven. We part with our beloved former President-General of UPU and first governor of Delta State in pain” the statement read.

Ibru, in addition to the office of the state governor he held in 1992 was elected a Senator of the Federal Republic of Nigeria in 2003 representing Delta Central Senatorial District.
He also held an honorary doctorate of Doctor of Laws (LL.D) of the Delta State University as well as a Fellowship of the Nigerian Institute of Public Relations.

Ibru was an architect and the First democratically elected Governor of Delta State. Until his death he held the position of President General of the Urhobo Progressive Union.
