THE newly appointed Vice Chancellor of the National Open
University of Nigeria (NOUN), Professor Abdalla Uba Adamu resumed duty on
Tuesday at the national headquarters of the university in Victoria Island, in
Lagos.
During the official handover on Wednesday, the new Vice
Chancellor was conducted round the school premises including the law library by
the outgoing Vice Chancellor, Professor Vincent Tenebe who remained jovial
throughout the exercise, and other senior management staff.
According to Pinnacle InfoGallery correspondent who witnessed
the inspection of the law library, the new VC was impressed that the library
was equipped with up-to-date materials stating that despite the fact that material
libraries have become ‘anachronistic’ across the world particularly in the Open
and Distant Learning system, the institution determinedly equipped the library
with offline books in addition to the e-library.
Adamu hails from Kano State and holds a double professorship
in Science Education, and Media and Cultural Communication from Bayero
University, Kano from where he was a lecturer until his appointment as the Vice
Chancellor.
In his general remarks, the new Vice Chancellor pledged to
consolidate and even surpass the legacy of his predecessor by taking education
to the door step of every Nigerian in pursuit of the UNDP policy on education.

Great NOUN students. The sky is our starting point. We are unbeatable
