The Pulpit Mandate |
CHRISTIANS all over the world celebrated the resurrection of
Christ from the death. His resurrection implies his lordship over death, hence,
the designation as the Lord of Host. The Easter Celebration commenced with the
crucifixion service held on Good Friday prior to the Easter Sunday in sync to
the three days before His resurrection. The
Lord was crucified on the cross for the remission of sins of the world. He died
in the flesh and bled profusely until HE gave up the ghost.
Indeed, this is the peak of sacrifice for an innocent person
to voluntarily die in place of others. This therefore points to a reasonable
conclusion that Easter is to be celebrated more than any other Christian
festivals because, the birth of Christ only brought the sacrificial lamb to
existence, and didn’t accomplish the mission until His death which is
remembered on Good Friday.
The resurrection of Christ means a lot to the believers as
Christianity would have amounted to a mere religion without the resurrection.
Christ distinguished Himself from all other names known under the heavens by
remarkably exercising absolute dominion over death. That is our testimony today
backing our unwavering declarations that He is the lord over the Heavens and the
earth.
The scripture in revelations 1:18 says “I am he that liveth, and was dead, and behold, I am alive for
evermore, Amen, and have the keys of hell and of death. This unequivocal
declaration of the supreme master indicates nothing but mastership and lordship
over the heavens and the earth. This therefore certifies the supernatural
capacity of the Lord to change cause changes on whatever situations and
circumstances. The Lord is thus, dependable.
Succinctly, the message is that He is no longer on the cross
but seated at the right hand of the Father. Interestingly, He is not seated
alone but with us including you if you’re born again. By this arrangement, He
died; we died with Him, He was raised from the death and we were raised
together with Him sitting above all principalities and powers. Unfortunately, a
lot of believers still locate the Lord on the cross which he left upon resurrection.
The Lord is no longer on the cross but seated in the heavenly places.
Now, the crux of the matter is not just that Christ rose from
the death; rather we are competent partakers of His victories over death. Yes,
we were raised together, and now above all principalities, powers and dominion.
Ephesians 2:6 - “And hath raised us up
together, and made us sit together in heavenly places in Christ Jesus that in
the ages to come he might show the exceeding riches of his grace in his
kindness toward us through Christ Jesus”.
Furthermore, Ephesians 1:20-23,”…Which He wrought in Christ, when he raised Him from the dead, and
set him at his own right hand in the heavenly places, far above all
principalities and power, and might, and dominion, and every name that is
named, not only in this world, but also in that which is to come; and hath put
all things under his feet, and gave him to be the head over all things to the
church, which is his body, the fullness of him that fillet all in all”.
Now, the grand finale is recorded in Romans 8:11, “But
if the Spirit of him that raised up Jesus from the dead dwell in you, he that
raised up Christ from the dead shall also quicken your mortal bodies by his
Spirit that dwelleth in you”. The resurrection of Christ demonstrates the
superlative dominion of God over the heavens and earth. In other words, Easter
is more than mere celebrations or acting the drama of the crucifixion of Jesus
but a unique opportunity to exercise the omnipotent power of God over any
incompatible circumstances or situation of life.
It is a time of spiritual stimulation of the power in the gospel
of Jesus Christ to cause changes to whatever that is opposing our peace and
pleasures in life. The distinguishing factor between Christmas and Easter is
that while the former symbolizes the birth of the saviour of the world, the
latter exhibits the wondrous power of God over the heavens and earth by the
resurrection.
Use this season to reflect on the presence of the Lord in your
life and take advantage of it to fix your life and destiny to align with your
heart desires. Easter celebration is more than funfair but a season to unleash
the power of God in your life by His spirit which lives in you.
