The British renowned football club,
Arsenal on Saturday enveloped the biggest defeat in the past eighteen months by
loosing devastatingly to a South African club, Southampton, leaving the Gunners
with four (4-0) earsplitting goals to
nil.
Following the loss, Arsenal having
lost three points, has missed the chance to go top of the Premier League as the
club will retain its position to queue behind the Chester City of England.
However, Arsenal Manager, Arsene
Wenger is yet to come to terms with the match alleging that his team was by omission
or commission shortchanged coupled with his players’ lack of mettle in squarely
tackling the opponents resulting to Shane Long Brace opening the floor, and followed
by Cuco Martina and Jose Fonte to peg the team to a standstill with unimaginable
goals.
It is noteworthy that after a
similar defeat on Monday, this time in favour of the Gunners with 2-0 against
Manchester, Arsenals fans were in high spirit to crush the Southampton in the
same manner in view of the title, unfortunately, the reverse was the case.
Analyzing the incident, Arsenal
manager said that his team lost a lot of opportunities.
“I don’t take too much notice of
the score line in my consideration but we lost too many challenges, they were
sharper than us. We were unlucky on the first goal. The first shot on goal from
the right-back through Martina went in the top corner.
The second one was a foul on Laurent and that was the turning point but the referee didn’t see it, then we were exposed on counter attacks.” He said

Wenger noted that the result was highly devastating but in line
with sportsmanship, he has no option than to move on. He stated, “It is a disappointing result but I
have to say well done to Southampton. In many
challenges, we were second best. The referee let a lot go as well but when you
are not dominant, that’s the price you pay.”
On his assessment on this season's Premier League, Wenger added: "I said many times it's down to consistency to fight in every game and find the resources to produce top-level performances.
