VICE Chancellor of the National Open
University of Nigeria, (NOUN), Professor Abdalla Uba Adamu has been described
as a bridge-builder, detribalized and indefatigable leader by the National Open
University of Nigeria Alumni Association, (NOUNAA).
The association, in a congratulatory
message signed by the Chairman, Board of Trustees (BoT) and Convocation Representative
in the Governing Council, Comrade Usman Tanze Danjuma over the chieftaincy title
conferred on Professor Adamu as the ‘Nze Okaa Omee’ of Awene in Ezema Olo
Kingdom of Ezeagu LGA in Enugu state by HRH Eze Ogbunechendo of Ezema Olo; Igwe
Lawrence O.C. Agubuzo, OON, eulogized the virtues of the Vice Chancellor
stating that the decoration was an honour well deserved vis-à-vis his innovative
feats and accomplishments in his short period in office thereby moving the
federal university to a greater height from where his predecessor stopped.
Comrade Danjuma assured the Vice
Chancellor that the alumni of the university will continue to give all
necessary supports within its capacity to ensuring that the objectives of Open
and Distance Learning (ODL) which the university statutorily stands to dispense
to Nigerians yearning for quality and flexible education are actualized adding
that the choice of the chieftaincy title which literarily translates as
an ‘accomplisher per excellence’ was believably on account of his dependability,
doggedness and ground-breaking drives.
The traditional ruler who was
formerly a Nigerian ambassador to Zambia and Malawi and presently the
Chancellor of NOUN emphasized that the Vice Chancellor was honoured over his
innovative leadership qualities especially ‘entrenchment of transparency,
openness and encouraging aggressive scholarship’ towards making education
attractive to the masses.
Congratulations my able VC.
