TECHNICAL and Development Committee of the Nigeria
Football Federation (NFF) has nominated a Frenchman, Paul Le Guen as the new
Super Eagles head coach, however subject to agreement on personal terms.
Addressing newsmen in Abuja today, a member
of the technical committee, Paul Bassey said Le Guen is to be assisted by
Salisu Yusuf and Imama Amapakabo.
However, President of the Nigeria Football Federation
(NFF), Amaju Pinnick on Monday reassured of the commitment of the organisation
to actualise its dream of having the country qualify for the Russia 2018 FIFA
World Cup adding that the decision to get a quality coach was arrived at
following the failure of the national to qualify for the 2017 African Cup of
Nations (AFCON)..
Pinnick also revealed his board has already struck
a deal that will take care of remunerations of the five coaches towards preventing
delays which hitherto had negative impact adding that with these mechanisms in
place, the national team is reinvigorated to deliver excellent results as expected.
“We want to avoid as much as possible the
perceived mistakes that made us to miss out of the AFCON 2017. To ensure that
we brought the best coach that can qualify us for the World Cup, the first
thing we did was to ensure we got a partner that will pay the fees of all the
coaches. We sent a request of about five coaches and that was granted and the company
requested we should keep every other thing under wraps for now.
“After the last AFCON ouster, we started
thinking of Russia ad we are making efforts to pay all the coaches so that they
will give their best at all times. Truly we are very desirous of qualifying for
the 2018 world cup”, Pinnick said.
