LAGOS: Police Foil Attempt by Militants To Invade Community, Seek Public Cooperation

THE Lagos State Police Command have foiled an attempt by some group of militants to invade and unleash terror on Fatoki community in Igando area of the state.

According to a press statement made by Lagos State Police Public Relations Officer, Dolapo Badmus, a superintendent of police (SP), members of the public alerted the Police at about 9:30 pm on Friday that some group of people suspected to be militants have invaded the community through waterways shooting sporadically...


“Immediately, a team of policemen were mobilised to the scene to engage them, the superior firepower of the policemen and subsequent bullet wound made the hoodlums abandoned their mission, retreated and escaped through Totowu waterways.

 “However, during the gun battle a member of the team an inspector of police was hit by bullet and another civilian was shot while they were retreating, the two victims are receiving treatment and recuperating in the hospital while effort is on to arrest the fleeing suspects.

“The Command hereby implores members of the public and hospitals to report to the nearest police station anyone noticed with gunshot injury as it reiterates its commitment to ensure safety of lives and property.

“Meanwhile residents especially those close to waterways are advised to promptly alert the police of any suspicious movement in and around their community”, Badmos said.
