ECONOMIC and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC)
has today arraigned the former militant leader, Government
Ekpemupolo, also known as Tompolo, in absentia before the Federal High
Court sitting in Lagos.
Tomopolo who has been at large over
his roles in the diversion of N34 billion belonging to the NIMASA was earlier
declared wanted by the Police on orders of the court with his properties and
business interests confiscated. Following his recalcitrance to appear before
the court, the EFCC today applied ut
suspectum in absentia arrain before the court presided by Justice Mohammed Buba.
At
the court, the prosecution raised a 22 count-charge against the ex-militant
with no one to plead guilty or not guilty, thereby leading court to conclude he
was guilty as charged, and therefore his decision to evade justice. More
information later.
