NIGERIAN Institution of Estate Surveyors and Valuers (NIESV)
has urged the Minister of the Federal Capital Territory, Muhammed Bello to
revoke all undeveloped plots of land in the city which were allocated but
abandoned contrary to the development objectives of the allocation.
The President of NIESV, Mr.James Omeru made the statement
during a meeting with the minister in Abuja in lieu of the institution’s 46th
annual conference slated to hold next week.
Highlight of the meeting was the
investiture of the minister as the Patron of NIESV pursuant to the
institution’s constitution, and an appeal to the minister to genially make land
available for affordable housing developments for the masses.
“As a player in the real sector and building industry, it has
always been our desire to build a modern housing estate in the FCT. We appeal
to you to allocate land to us for this purpose. We also observe that some of the plots in the Central Area
Phase 2 are not developed. It is our suggestion that a deliberate attempt
should be made to revoke those areas that are yet to be allocated to those who
are ready to develop immediately", he said.
In the acceptance speech in respect of the investiture, the
minister emphasized on the need for effective collaboration between the federal
government and the NIESV in order to achieve a remarkable progress adding that
real sector is a key sector in every zone whether local or international.
He
added that the President Mohammadu Buhari administration’s priority on
providing housing schemes for the populace cannot be overemphasized, and
therefore pledged to work with the institution in that direction.
