LAGOS State Government has released N2.25 billion Employment Trust
Fund towards boosting employment as well as cushioning the effects of
unemployment in the state.
In a statement by the Executive Secretary, Lagos State Water
Regulatory Commission, Mr. Ahmed Abdullahi while disclosing this last week
during the commemoration of the World Water celebration organized by the Lagos
Water Corporation in Lagos, he stated that the state is committed to providing
portable water which is capable of improving employment generation in the
state.
“The State government has invested a huge amount in ensuring the
creation of jobs through the Employment Trust Fund and I am proud to inform you
that the first tranche of N6.25bn has been disbursed.
“While domestic borehole water abstraction may individually be of
small quantities, they portend a very significant source of contamination. The
industrial boreholes are also a potential source of contamination”, he said.
Speaking further, he said that about 33 percent of water produced
in the state was through the state government while 67 percent was through
private and public partnership efforts.
