LASG Sets Up N6.25bn Employment Trust Fund

LAGOS State Government has released N2.25 billion Employment Trust Fund towards boosting employment as well as cushioning the effects of unemployment in the state.

In a statement by the Executive Secretary, Lagos State Water Regulatory Commission, Mr. Ahmed Abdullahi while disclosing this last week during the commemoration of the World Water celebration organized by the Lagos Water Corporation in Lagos, he stated that the state is committed to providing portable water which is capable of improving employment generation in the state.

“The State government has invested a huge amount in ensuring the creation of jobs through the Employment Trust Fund and I am proud to inform you that the first tranche of N6.25bn has been disbursed.

“While domestic borehole water abstraction may individually be of small quantities, they portend a very significant source of contamination. The industrial boreholes are also a potential source of contamination”, he said.

Speaking further, he said that about 33 percent of water produced in the state was through the state government while 67 percent was through private and public partnership efforts.
