PRESIDENT Mohammadu Buhari has
commended the National Assembly for passing the 2016 Appropriation Bill
yesterday.
The Special Adviser to the President on National Assembly Matters
(Senate), Senator Ita Enang, told newsmen at a press briefing in Abuja on Wednesday that the Presidency
was glad over the passage of the bill, adding that the development will afford
the administration all the resources to embark on its outlined policies and
projects. It also noted that various committees in the National Assembly worked resolutely to ensure that the budget reflects the situations in the country.
“I followed the entire process and I
have seen the industry that has been exhibited by the senators. I want to say
that we appreciate particularly the fact that in the course of consideration,
the committee chairmen, the committee members and the chairmen of appropriation
committees were in constant touch,’’ he said.
In a similar vein, the Presidency commended
the legislature for approving the harmonized version of the Medium Term
Expenditure Framework (MTEF) and Fiscal Strategy Paper(FSP), adding that they
were essentially the prerequisites for passing the budget as well as the media
for extensive coverage and objective reportage throughout the processes the budget
passed through before finally passed.
