LAGOS: LASG Embarks On Education Initiatives

Deputy Governor of Lagos State, Dr Idiat Adebule last week reiterated that there is no going back on the new ‘360 degree’ education initiatives by the state government towards expanding and improving on the education curriculum in the state to facilitate comprehensive education through qualitative and accessible system with skill acquisitions to its pupils and students.
Adebule who also doubles as the Commissioner of Education disclosed this during the 6th anniversary of Uniformed Voluntary Organisations in the state’s public schools explained that the initiatives are strategically aimed at impacting skills acquisition to its pupils and students such that while they are being taught on the conventional education, skill acquisitions which would make them to be self-reliant is not overlooked. 

The Deputy governor added that the administration of Governor Akinwunmi Ambode is leaving no stone unturned in ensuring to its actualization, however noted that such target requires teamwork, hence called for partnership of all the stakeholders including teachers, corporate organizations, parents, media and individuals towards achieving these great goals.
“Government will faithfully improve schools’ infrastructure, teaching methods and staff quality to achieve better performance outcomes including the introduction of technology-based teaching learning tools for the senior category of students. This explains why a huge percentage of the budget is committed to the education sector.
“We believe that it is our responsibility to help them not only to develop mentally but physically, emotionally and socially. The effect of this will be total and well rounded individuals for the challenges of the global society,” the deputy governor stated.
In her remarks, she asserted that since the re-launch of the initiatives, the uniformed clubs in public schools had evidently contributed overwhelmingly in adding values to the lives of the pupils and students adding that the contributions of the voluntary clubs equally enhanced the extracurricular activities in public schools as many student have now been reinvigorated as could be attested by rapid increase in its membership.
