The Economic and Financial Crimes Commission, EFCC has traced
about N4.75bn in a company, Silva McNamara Limited, believably owned by Gbolaham
and Babajide Obanikoro who are two sons of Senator Musiliu Obanikoro, a former Minister
of State for Defence during the erstwhile President Goodluck Jonathan’s
administration.
However, investigations show that the former Minister’s name
did not reflect explicitly in the transactions as he wasn’t listed as a member
of the board of Directors of the company. However, the transactions also didn’t
indicate the contracts the various payments serviced.
According to information from reliable sources, the amounts were
traced from the $2.1bn allocated for arms procurements amidst high insecurity
in the northern part of the country which claimed several lives of both civilians,
military personnel as well as displace many Nigerians.
The transfers were made through the company’s Diamond Bank
account from the CBN Impress account of the National Security Adviser, Col.
Sambo Dasuki (rtd) between June 06, 2014 and December 12, 2014.
Among various amounts transferred without disclosed purposes or
transactions include: N200m on June 06,
