An operative of the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission,
EFCC, Mr. Abdulrahman Biu who was a Deputy Detective Superintendent was on
Thursday arrested by the agency over extortion of $150,000 from a suspect in connection with the
ongoing probe of the arms deal.
The Head of Media and Publicity, Mr. Wilson Uwujaren
disclosed this on Friday adding that a thorough search by the agency at the
residence of the operative resulted in the $20,000, N500,000, two police
uniforms, bearing his name with the ranks of Deputy Superintendent of Police,
among others.
Also recovered from the personnel was an unbranded pistol
with a magazine and live ammunition in the cars parked in his premises as well
as a police warrant vard number 27/2015.
According to the official statement by the EFCC spokesperson,
“An operative of the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission, Mr.
Abdulrahman Biu, Deputy Detective Superintendent, has been arrested for
offences bordering on extortion, influence peddling and personation.”
Uwajaren however added that the law will take its course.
