$2.1b Arms Fund: How EFCC Outsmarts, Apprehends Olisa Metuh Ahead of Escape Through Dubai

Investigations have revealed how the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission, EFCC strategically foiled the calculated attempt by Olisa Metuh, the Publicity Secretary of the Peoples Democratic Party, PDP and arrested him a day to his purported trip to Caribbean Island nation of St.Kitts and Nevis enroute Dubai.
Metuh, who was arrested on Tuesday by the operatives of the anti-graft body in his residence in Abuja following a security tip-off that he had secured an Emirates Airline flight to leave the country to evade justice, was listed in connection of N1.4 billion out of the $2.1 billion allocated for arms procurement in the heat of insecurity in the northern part of the country through the office of the National Security Adviser.
A source who spoke to Pinnacle InfoGallery team on the condition of anonymity stated that the eloquent PDP’s spokesperson had perfected plans to quietly leave the country following the federal government’s war against corruption particularly having been shortlisted over the indiscriminate disbursements of the arm procurement fund by the former ex-NSA, Col. Sambo Dasuki, rtd. It alleged that he had already acquired citizenship of St. Kitts and Nevis through intimidating pecuniary interests and investments in the country.
As part of the concerted strategy to leave and stay away from the country, the source disclosed that the PDP spokesperson’s recent alarm on threats to his life by the presidency was strategically to secure asylum in the overseas as soon as he takes off from the shores of Nigeria.  Among other notable citizens that have so far made the list on the misappropriation of arms fund include the chairman of Daar Communications, Chief Raymond Dokpesi and his ThisDay counterpart, Nduka Obiegbena. Meanwhile, the EFCC has persistently threatened that more influential citizens would be arrested and charged to the court in few weeks time following further overwhelming revelations from the interrogations made so far.
However, the EFCC boss, Mr. Ibrahim Magu has reiterated on his commission’s guiding principle that it would strictly reflect the “fear of God, national interest and the rule of law”, adding that the EFCC already has the support of the government, all relevant bodies and organizations towards performing its statutory duties efficiently including the judiciary.
”By far, more inspirational is the political will of Mr. President to fight corruption. This unbending will, which some now call body language, has given the needed traction to the anti-graft campaign. On the part of the EFCC, I can assure you that the effect of our even more penetrating investigations and commitment to rid Nigeria of all forms of corruption and economic and financial crimes can and will continue to be seen from the cases we take to court for trial,” he said.
However, apart from Metuh who allegedly attempted to escape after intense propaganda that the anti-corruption war was targeted solely on the opposition, most other political officeholders in the previous administration have either resorted to relocation abroad or glued to clutches and wheel chairs invoking illnesses that never showed up.
It would be recalled that immediately Buhari was declared President-elect, Chief Bode George, one of the strongmen in the Jonathan’s administration and PDP National leader, South-West who, visibly played notable roles in the administration-under-probe diplomatically left the country, and from unknown location announced that he would be out of the country for some years over a book he intends to publish in future. Some others followed suit before the inauguration of the present government and evaded justice.
Nevertheless, undeterred Buhari, since assumption of office has been touring all nooks and crannies of the world seeking for international cooperation

to assist him fish out treasury looters and the loots itself in their respective countries threatening that justice must take its course.
