TRIAL of the Senate
President, Dr Bukola Saraki, and his deputy, Ike Ekweremadu and two others over
alleged forgery of Senate Standing Rules has been adjourned to September 28
following annual vacation of the court which kicked off on Monday.
Saraki and other accused persons had arrived
the court premises in continuation of the their trial when they were notified
that the court will not sit having begun its annual vacation. The trial will
now resume in September when the court resumes from vacation...
Saraki, Ekweremadu, the immediate past Clerk
of the National Assembly, Alhaji Salisu Abubakar Maikasuwa and the acting
Clerk, Mr. Benedict Efeturi were charged with forging Senate Standing Rules and
arraigned on a two-count charge of forgery and conspiracy to commit forgery.
All the accused persons pleaded not guilty to
the charges and we’re consequently admitted to bail while trial was adjourned
to 11th of July.
