THE Governing Council of Obafemi Awolowo University (OAU), Ile-Ife has appointed Prof
Ayobami Salami as the new Vice Chancellor. His endorsement took place and was communicated to him after a
meeting yesterday.
In
a release by the registrar of the university, he replaces Prof Bamitale Omole
whose tenure will expire on June 23, 2016 adding that the institution will move to the next level through his years of experiences in various establishments and bodies.
Salami is a Professor of State Application and Environmental Studies was until new
appointment the Deputy Vice Chancellor, (Academics) in the university.
From to his profile, Salami’s has a high professional history; Head, Space
Applications and Environmental Science Laboratory (SPAEL); Coordinator, Climate
Modeling Unit, Institute of Ecology and Environmental Studies, OAU; Secretary,
Academic Staff Union of Universities (ASUU)m OAU branch; Director, Institute of
Ecology 2003 to 2007; Senior Research Adviser, Corporate Environment Department;
Senior Research Adviser, Shell Petroleum Development Company (SPDC) 2010-2011.
