N4.9B SCAM: EFCC Arraigns Fani Kayode, Others On 17 Count Charge

ECONOMIC and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC), on Tuesday, arraigned a former Minister of Aviation, Femi Fani Kayode, before a Federal High Court in Lagos.
Fani-Kayode, is being charged along with a former minister of finance, Nenadi Usman; Danjuma Yusuf, and a company, Joint Trust Dimension Nigeria Limited.
EFCC had filed a 17-count charge bordering on conspiracy, stealing, corruption and making cash payments exceeding the amount authorized by law.
The accused all pleaded not guilty to the charges according to the News Agency of Nigeria (NAN)...
According to the EFCC’s charge, the accused committed the offences between January and March 2015 including unlawfully retaining over N3.8 billion which they “reasonably ought to have known” formed part of the proceeds of an unlawful act of stealing and corruption as stated in count seven charge.
Justice Sule Hassan, in a short ruling, adjourned the case to July 1 for hearing of the bail applications and ordered that the defendants be remanded in prison custody pending determination of their bail application.
