LAGOS: Group Hails the Choice Of Soyinka, Gbadamosi As Committee Chairmen

Ambode, Soyinka and Gbadamosi
COALITION of Ibile Professionals has affirmed it support to the Lagos state governor, Mr. Ambode Akinwunmi for his choice of Nobel Laureate, Professor Wole Soyinka to co-preside the Lagos at 50 Celebration Committee.

In a statement by the Chairman of the General Secretary of the group, Alhaji Wasiu Hassan earlier in the week, he overtly gave his ovation for the appointment saying that the personalities of the chairmen speak volume in the society and therefore wondered why people must wish to politicize every policy of government adding that the likes of Soyinka all over the world are always sought for in celebrations of such nature.

Hassan added that the state was made up of five divisions of coordinate jurisdiction- Badagry, Ikeja, Ikorodu, Lagos Island and Epe, and therefore condemned any form of campaign of calumny against the state government.

“The Lagos Island division enjoyed the seat of power for the last eight years with the cooperation of other divisions. The Coalition of Ibile Professionals frowns at any campaign of calumny against the present administration and its decisions.

“We believe that the Governor Akinwunmi-led government has been successfully balancing the state affairs and appointments without leaving any division behind.

“We should be grateful for having Chief Rasheed Gbadamosi and Prof. Wole Soyinka appointed by a governor who has recognized their qualities to add glamour and depth to an international event for the celebration of a cosmopolitan city like Lagos. We must purge ourselves of narrow sentiments if we want international communities to take Lagos seriously”, he said.
