PRESIDENT Mohammadu Buhari will be paying an official visit
to the Peoples Republic of China towards strengthening bilateral relations
between China and Nigeria.
This was disclosed by the Chinese Ambassador to Nigeria, Gu
Xiaojie when he visited the Minister of Science and Technology, Dr. Ogbonnaya
Onu in Abuja on Wednesday, according to the press release by the Chief Press
Secretary to the Minister, Mr. Taiye Akinyemi.
Emphasizing on the significance of the visit, the Chinese
envoy stated that the initiative was necessary following Nigeria’s sensitive
and strategic position in Africa adding that the country is China’s largest
business partner in the continent.
“The relationship right now is a strategic partnership that
will definitely help to expand mutual benefits between the two countries to
look at widening areas and scope of cooperation. We are also set look for new areas of cooperation between
China and Nigeria against the background that this year, china and Nigeria are
celebrating 45 years anniversary of diplomatic relations between the two
countries”, he said.
The envoy unambiguously said that preparations in respect of
the presidential visit have been concluded.
