FEDERAL Government
yesterday moved to ensure successful release to members of the Independent
Petroleum Marketers Association of Nigeria (IPMAN) trucks of petrol to offset
about 7,000 of their loading tickets said to be outstanding at products depots
in the country.
IPMAN stated
this in a statement through the Secretary of their Reconciliation/Interim
Management Committee, Mr. Lawson Ngoa, in Abuja that following the amicable
resolution of the conflict over leadership tussle which had lingered over the
years, some of their members had started loading products from some depots in
Lagos.
Ngoa added that
despite the fact the association controls over 80 per cent of the petroleum
products retail outlets in the country, it was not in a good position of getting
the products from the Nigerian National Petroleum Corporation (NNPC) as a
result of the ugly development.
He added
that the current scarcity was caused by the leadership tussle and therefore
assured that with the positive steps taken by the committee, the scarcity of
the products may never repeat itself in the country again.
He furthermore
said with the support of the Minister of State for Petroleum Resources, Dr. Ibe
Kachikwu and his team, the scarcity would soon be over, adding that the
committee will continue to monitor and review situations of things to ensure
proactive steps are taken as at when due towards maintain peace among
stakeholders.
