Femi Falana (SAN)
Human Rights Activist, Mr. Femi Falana (SAN) had been tipped to lead the people of the North Central geographical zone to the Ecowas Court over acts of genocide and menaces of the Fulani herdsmen in the domain which have become incessant and terrible in the recent times.
According to report, the learned senior advocate of Nigeria would, all things being equal, proceed on Monday, 25th of April, to file a case of genocide and other acts indicative of inhumanity to man at the International Court of Justice (ICJ) in Hague and the ECOWAS Court, against Fulani herdsmen stating that the impunity has gotten to alarming stage.
Falana who spoke when he received the leaders of the Jukun Development Association of Nigeria who had come to submit to him in his office, a 1000 page document detailing the targeted cleansing of their people by the rampaging herdsmen lambasted the federal government for watching a group of people arming themselves with deadly weapons against innocent citizens.

“It is very clear by the pictorial and other evidence contained in this evidence that the people of the North Central Nigeria are going through terrible things daily in the hands of these herdsmen. Lives and properties are no longer safe from these people who killed and maim, and rape women at will just because they wanted their cattles to graze on other people’s farmlands”, Falana said.
The National President of the Jukun Development Association of Nigeria Mr Benjamin Bako said the group had approached the human rights activist for his timely intervention before it is too late adding that the group opted to package the detailed document to show clearly monumental atrocities and losses encountered through the intimidations of the herdsmen.
“Jukun Development have officially compiled a 1000 paged document containing details of Fulani herdsmen atrocities, including names of all the individuals killed and properties destroyed by the herdsmen in the last four years in Jukunland to human rights lawyer Chief Femi Falana (SAN), whonhad been briefed to formally file a case of genocide on behalf of the association”, he said.
After receiving the documents, Falana called on the Federal Government to take urgent and drastic action against the massacre being perpetrated by Fulani herdsmen against innocent farmers before they throw the nation into another avoidable war adding that the unprecedented massacre of unarmed farmers by these herdsmen in Jukunland in Taraba State and the other parts of North Central Nigeria everyday, is condemnable and evil.
