According to
a statement by the Special Assistant to Senate President on Public Affairs,
Muhammed Isa, Dr. Saraki stated this while speaking with a team of editors of
the London-based The
Economist at the weekend noting that the Senate under his
administration will do everything within its capacity to eradicate corruption.
Saraki
further catalogued the prompt and appropriate interventions of the Senate in ensuring
that some corruption related allegations were duly investigated and pledged that
the Senate under his watch will continue to discharge its duties in line with
the contemporary norms.
According to the
statement, the areas he listed to have been intervened include investigative report
on the management of the Treasury Single Account (TSA) which saved the nation
about N7billion as well as the of the inconsistencies in the 2016 budget.
“For the first time we promised Nigerians to
give out our budget breakdown. The committee will make its report
available by next week. We are resolved to break the tradition of one line
item. Under my watch, the Senate will never cover corruption except if the
information didn’t come to us”, Saraki said.
