LAGOS State Governor, Mr. Akinwunmi Ambode, on
Monday disengaged the General Manager of the Lagos State Building Control Agency
(LASBCA), Engr. Adeigbe Olushola from his position as a result of the collapsed
5-storey building at Lekki.
In the list of the dismissal employees are the
Head of Inspection and Quality Control in the Agency, Adeoye Thomas Adeyemi,
the Zonal District Officer in the Agency, Dosunmu Gbadebo, while the Zonal Head
of Eti-Osa West of the Agency, Mrs. Akinde Adenike Sherifat was compulsorily
retired from the Civil Service.
Ambode, in a statement signed by the Head of
Service, Mrs. Olabowale Ademola, said the affected officers were dismissed from
service over negligence to duty following the recommendations of the Personnel
Management Board adding that the state government will be extra-ordinarily
strict on building and constructions in the state.
“It is
also a clarion call to them to be alive to their responsibilities as any act of
negligence will attract sanctions, while hardworking officers will be rewarded
appropriately,” She said.
The state government used the opportunity to
caution every stakeholders particularly developers to comply to guidelines starting
that the recent event will be used to teach everyone a lesson.
