TARABA: Taraba House Elects A New Speaker

Taraba State House of Assmbly
HON.Mark Bako Useni of the Taraba State House of Assembly has been elected as the Speaker of the House of the Assembly following the Court of Appeal judgment which sacked the former speaker, Hon Peter Diah who represented Mbamga Constituency and ordered for a supplementary election which held on 20th of February, 2016. Eventually, the former Speaker did not return him to the House as he lost to his opponent.

Following this development, the seat of the speaker was accordingly declared vacant, hence a new election for the office of the Speaker.
With twenty two votes out of the twenty four members of the house who were present at the plenary session, Useni having scored the majority of the votes of the members was accordingly declared as Speaker of the State Assembly.
In his inaugural speech, the new Speaker registered his gratitude over the unanimous decision of the members to elect him which he said indicated of confidence and faith in him adding that his leadership would improve on the previous administration.
He added that his leadership would also improve on the cordial relationship which had existed with the executive arm to ensure that the electorates who voted them would be proud of their action at the end of their tenure adding that with his experiences as the Speaker of the 7th House of Assembly, the House will move forward with speed since he only stepped into shoes he has credibly worn recently.
It will be recalled that Mark Bako Useni was the Speaker 7th House of Assembly in Taraba State till the end.
