POLITICAL group, Movement for Equity in Nigeria, MEN has
commended the official handover of President Mohammadu Buhari to the Vice
President, Professor Yemi Osinbajo on Friday in view of his short vacation
which began yesterday.
In a statement issued in Lagos on Saturday by the President
of the group, Hon. Promise Orji, the group stated that the development was
consistent with the civilized norms across the globe adding that Buhari by the attitude
has impliedly debunked the rumour that the Vice President has been sidelined in
the scheme of things in his government.
“President Mohammadu Buhari has shown leadership by example
by formally handing over to his Vice President despite the fact that his
vacation was short termed.
“This development is indeed rare to stumble on and Mr.
President must be commended for it. It shows that the President places the
interest of the nation beyond every other thing knowing that governance is
teamwork,” Orji said.
The President filed a notice for a 5-day vacation to the
President of the Senate and Speaker of the House of the Representatives
intimidating the National Assembly and consequently handed over to his Vice who
now assumed the position of Acting President pending when the President returns
and essentially re-transmits that he is set to take up his duties as the
President of Nigeria.
