Arewa, Ohaneze Releases A Communiqué, Jointly Supports Anti-Corruption

PROMINENT socio-political organizations in the northern part of Nigeria, Arewa Consultative Forum (ACF) and its counterpart in the South-East geographical zone, Ohaneze Ndigbo met during the weekend and adopted a communiqué to work together towards overcoming the recurrent ethnic crises between the two ethnic regions and other parts of the country.

At the meeting held in Enugu shortly after the Chairman of ACF, Alhaji Ibrahim Ahmadu Coomasie was honoured with an honourary doctorate of Public Administration by the University of Nigeria, Nsukka at its 45th convocation ceremony, the two prominent groups overtly admitted that unity, equity and corporate existence are indispensable among all the ethnic groups that formed the nation for progress and prosperity emphatically added that war are enemy to mankind.


In a statement which was jointly signed by the national Publicity Secretary of ACF and Secretary General of the Ohanaeze; Mallam Muhammad Ibrahim and Dr. Joe Nwaorgu respectively, the two leading socio-political organizations pledged its support to the anti-graft drive of the present administration of Mohammadu Buhari and eradication of the insurgency in the north.

“Arewa Consultative Forum (ACF) and Ohanaeze Ndigbo reaffirmed their belief in the unity and corporate existence of one indivisible nation.

“We wholly support the war against the insurgency in the Northeast region and commend the effort of our gallant soldiers at the frontline and the encouragement being given to them by the Federal Government.


“We extend our heartfelt condolences to the Governments, people and families of innocent people killed in the affected states and equally sympathized with the displaced persons in the Internally Displaced Persons (IDPS) camps, the joint communiqué stated.

The leadership of the two bodies consequently agreed to take the message of peace and unity back to their respective localities, above all, called on the Federal Government to release all Biafra agitators in the custody of Directorate of State Security facing various charges ranging from treasonable felony, breach of public peace among others,
