THE
leadership of the All Progressives Congress, APC has debunked the
allegations that it has called for the probe of Supreme Court justices over the
recent verdicts which were in favour of the Peoples Democratic Party, PDP and
its candidates in Rivers, Abia and Akwa-Ibom States stating that such call on
the probe wouldn’t have been made knowing that the apex court is yet to
disclose how it arrived at such decisions.
In a statement made by an
official of the party when PINNACLE INFOGALLERY visited the national
headquarters of the Party in Abuja on Friday, in view of reactions over the
numerous verdicts of the Supreme court which did not favour the Party and its
candidates, it said that the ruling party like the general public are keenly
waiting to know how the justices arrived at the decisions, hence wouldn’t have attacked
the honourable justices of the Supreme Court as alleged.
He added that the
Party would adequately file its remarks to the general public when the ratio decidendi (reasons for the
decision) on the judgment are disclosed soon as scheduled.
In the same vein, the national Chairman of the Party, Chief John
Odigie-Oyegun was reportedly said to have refuted the allegations saying that
it is premature to apportion blames since the reasons over the judgments are
yet to be given by the court admitting that the Party was dumbfounded by the judgments,
nevertheless, would wait patiently for the reasons for the decision as promised.
“I did not at any time call for the probe of the judges of the
Supreme Court because we do not know what informed the court’s decision in
respect of Rivers, Akwa Ibom and others.”
“It would be out of place for me to have made such a call when
the apex court was to come out with the details of its judgment. “In any
case, what is there to probe when we don’t even know what informed their
decisions?” the Chairman reportedly remarked.
