(L-R)Ooni, Prof Yemi Osinbajo and President Buhari
Ooni of Ife, Oba Adeyeye Ogunwusi was yesterday hosted by President Mohammadu Buhari alongside the General Overseer of the Redeemed Christian Church of God, Pastor E.A. Adeboye who also paid a courtesy visit to the Presidential Villa as well as to the Vice President, Professor Yemi Osinbajo.

Believably, the duo arrived the Presidential seat of power together shortly after the exit of the President of Liberia, Mrs. Ellen Johnson who also visited President Buhari.
However, the purpose of the meeting was not made public by any of the visitors as they only waved and entered their waiting cars and drove off.

In remarks, the Vice President said that the Ooni represents a face of new Nigeria in view of his concerted efforts to using his office to bring remarkable changes in the society.

It would be recalled that Ooni since assumption of office has embarked on moves towards reconciling various groups that were hitherto at loggerheads with one another. In humility, he attended the anniversary of the Alaafin of Oyo without invitation towards reconciling the two kingdoms that had been in supremacy battle for over thirty-five years.

“Some of the things we see Kabiyesi do, some of those steps he has taken, hand shakes across all prejudices, across traditional boundaries, a visit to the Alaafin of Oyo, and several other such important steps are not just symbolic.

“It is important to also understand that they also have very deep implications for future relationships and for the way that our generation is perceived and also implications in the way that our country eventually shapes up.

“The fact that he represents a new way of thinking and it is not just a new way of thinking. It is a whole new concept in the way we relate to power and authority and that we govern.

“And I think he is one of those who have thought it fit to begin to express himself in a completely different way from what we have seen in the past. And this is not just about traditional rulership; it is also about circular rulership. It is also about leadership at every level.

“I think that is one of the key things we have learnt from leadership, and one of the key leadership skills that he has taught, that his approach has taught us, is that you have to make contacts even with people and with authorities who in my past may have been considered adverse or adversaries one way or the other.

In response, Ooni expressed his gratitude with the present administration adding that its political will and efforts to make a remarkable change cannot be overemphasized stressing that the administration is “a good dawn for good leadership and a positive act of leadership.
Emphatically, he pledged his support to the government adding that he would use the traditional office to contribute his quota towards actualizing a desirable society.
