EKITI: CNPP, Civil Groups Protest Against Fayose Over Corruption, Demands Resignation

CONFERENCE of Nigerian Political Parties have frowned at the State governor, Mr. Ayo Fayose by protesting along major streets in Ado-Ekiti accusing him of taking advantage of the immunity provided for the office of state governors to engage in all manner of corrupt practices.

The protesters, chanting anti-government songs, are demanding among others for immediate resignation of the governor as well as urging the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) to follow up their investigation on the governor irrespective of the immunity clause...
The protesters with diverse placards of which some read, “Fayose, Resign and face the law”; Fayose, yor cup is full again”; were displayed by members of various political parties that made up the CNPP and other civil groups.
Addressing the aggrieved citizens, Kemi Olaleye, chairperson of the group, alleged that the governor has been using his immunity to enrich himself at the detriment of the poor masses in the state adding that the governor resorted to all manner of personal attacks on President Muhammadu Buhari to divert attention of the people of the state.
She therefore challenged Fayose to waive his immunity and submit himself to the anti-graft agencies for trial if he believes it was politically-motivated.
It will be recalled that this is the second time in two weeks that residents of Ado-Ekiti will witness such development.
