LAGOS State Government has deployed a new set of 1,300
teachers to complement the existing teaching workforce in the state, however
charged them to be circumspect in the choice of Pension Fund Administrators.
Speaking on Thursday, the chairman of the Lagos State
Universal Education Board, Dr. Ganiyu Sopeyin stated that newly employed
teachers usually fall victims of the pension schemes and charged them to deal
with the shortlisted licensed PFAs adding that an induction for the newly
deployed teacher will soon take place towards acquainting them with their
duties and expectations.
“Registering with unknown or unlicensed pension
administrators can spell doom. Our newly employed teachers need to be cautious
in order to safeguard their future in the state teaching service.
“Only 10 pension administrators are recognized for now; they
are Stanbic IBTC, Crusdader Sterling, ARM, Trust Fund, Leadway, Pension, NLPC,
Premium, PAL, Fidelity and AIICO”, he said.
Meanwhile, the state government has called on all the
personnel in the state to work for the growth and progress of the state.
The Special Adviser to the Governor on Overseas Affairs and
Investment, Professor Ademola Abass reportedly spoke during a sensitization
retreat for all workers in the state held at the Lagos House, Alausa calling
for collective efforts towards moving the state forward.
