PRESIDENT of the International Civil Aviation Organization
Council (ICAO), Dr. Olumuyiwa Aliu has arrived the country on a state visit.
Expectedly, the Nigerian born-ICAO boss will during the visit meet with
President Mohammadu Buhari to discuss some critical issues relating to the
aviation sector in Nigeria. In addition,
Aliu will hold a meeting with all the stakeholders in aviation industry with a
view to having direct access and information towards improving the industry.
ICAO is a UN specialized agency which is vested with the
responsibility of managing the administration and governance of the convention
on International Civil Aviation (Chicago Covention).
With a total of 191 member countries and industrial groups in
the council, it works to ensuring compliance on international standards and
regulations towards safety, security and efficiency in the aviation industry
globally.
However, with the departure of President Buhari yesterday for
a nuclear summit in Washington DC with all other Heads of government of other
nations, it is still uncertain if the schedule of the ICAO President to meet
with him is realistic. President Buhari is expected back to the country on
Sunday.
