DEPARTMENT of Petroleum Resources, DPR has issued a
directives to all the international oil companies (IOCs) operating in the
country to immediately embark on replacement of aged pipelines towards
restoring efficiency and productivity in the system.
The Director of DPR, Mr. Modecai Ladan handed down the order
in Lagos stating that the negligence to maintain a conventional standard which
includes replacement of weak pipelines was partly contributory to the breakdown
of the distribution of petroleum products in the country.
Ladan regrettably recalled that most of the pipelines used by
the IOCs are over 20 years and incontrovertibly required replacement and
complete overhaul of the system. He therefore charged all the stakeholders to
always work assiduously towards improving on the system as well as embarking on
intensive research towards discovering modern techniques of maintenance and
protection of the pipelines.
