SUPREME COURT VERDICT:Abia Govt Declares Wednesday Public Holiday

GOVERNOR of Abia State, Dr. Okezie Ikpeazu has approved Wednesday as a work free day in the state to enable workers and other indigenes join in the re-dedication of the state and celebrate for  the Supreme Court affirmation of Governor Okezie Ikpeazu as duly elected governor of the State.

In a press briefing after the state Executive Council Meeting, the Commissioner for Information and Strategy, Comrade Bonnie Iwuoha stated that the the event is scheduled to hold at the Umuahia Township Stadium adding that adequate plans have been concluded for a successful ceremony.
According to Iwuoha, the Council felicitated with all Abians over the victory at the Supreme Court which it described as victory for the democracy. He added that with the affirmation of the governor, the State is now set to be ushered into remarkable transformation in few weeks from now.

In view of this, he disclosed that a Committee headed by the Commissioner for Education has also been set up for review of fees paid by students of Abia State University, Uturu and the Abia State Polytechnic.

Consequently, the Vice Chancellor of Abia State University has been directed to forward details of the fees charged in the school to the Secretary to the State Government (SSG).

In the same manner, the Commissioner disclosed that the Commissioner for Works has been directed to fix a date for the flag-off of roads constructions at Nkporo and other parts of Abia North while the commissioner for Public Utilities was to produce a template for street light in all roads being constructed by the state government.
