FORMER Vice President, Alhaji Atiku Abubakar has sympathized with the government and people of Kano State over fire incident which razed the popular Singa Market in Kano destroying properties worth millions of Nigeria.
Atiku in a statement via his twitter deeply sympathized with the people noting that the economic situation in the country has already brought unbearable hardship to the people and wondered how they would be able to cope with the present situations they suddenly found themselves in.
He notably enjoined the relevant authorities to be proactive towards countering such incidents adding that harsh weather which is highly inflammable is likely to be experienced this year, hence a need to adequately plan ahead towards overcoming them where they arise.
"Deeply saddened by this Kano fire. In these dire economic times, the last thing our people need is loss of goods. My deepest sympathies to all those affected by the fire at Singa Market.
"Due to the El-NiƱo effect, we might experience harsh weather conditions
this year. Our fire/emergency agencies need to be proactive.
" Fire spreads easily during harmattan. We must therefore be careful how we light fires. Keep flamable materials away.
" My deepest sympathies to all those affected by the fire at Singa market, Kano. May God restore your losses, Atiku said.
