Indeed, Nigeria deserves a survival party and considered the
strongest nation in the world having been subjected to such gross financial losses,
unprecedented and indiscriminate diversions and reckless misappropriation of
its resources by insensitive public officeholders, to wit:
1). I acted based on Jonathan instruction- Col. Sambo Dasuki (Rtd.)
2). I didn't give order- Dr. Goodluck Jonathan.
3). I collected 350M from Dasuki for consultation - Iyorchia Ayu.
4). I only collected $30,000 from Dasuki not N100m- Chief Bode George.
5). I got N4.6b from Dasuki for spiritual purposes- Attahiru Bafarawa
6). I got N650M from Dasuki for my Abuja burnt office- Nduka Obaigbena.
7-I got N2.1b from Dasuki for publicity- Chief Raymond Dokpesi.
8). I got another N100m
from Yuguda, he didn't tell me from where- Attahiru Bafarawa.
9). I gave N100m each to Peter Odili, Jim Nwobodo, Bode George and
others- Isa Yuguda
10). The president asked be to change N10B to foreign currency for PDP
delegates Dasuki.
11). My boss asked me to get $11M from the CBN- Dasuki’s Account Officer.
12). I got order from
above to pay Mr.Government Oweidi Ekpemupolo (Tompolo) N13B for Maritime university land. - NIMASA DG.
13). Chief Anthony Anineh gave me N100m for SDP to support Goodluck’s re-election. Olu Falaye.
14). NBC boss, Emeka Mba in N15b fraud
15). NIMASA boss in N2b and 34 billion frauds.
Mindbogglingly, with all these discoveries and disclosures,
one could logically conclude that the present administration was divinely sent
to rescue the nation from oppressors and strong-minded destroyers.
“We now know why Goodluck Jonathan said that corruption is
not stealing; just mere misappropriation of resources. Had Jonathan won, where
would our nation be today”, a concerned citizen who spoke on the condition of
anonymity asked.
It would be recalled that the Chairman of the Independent
Corrupt Practices and Other Related Offences Commission, ICPC, Mr. Nta Ekpo recently
decried the existing system which promotes excessive concentration on the
corruption with less attention on the preventive measures. He decisively
condemned the practice which he described as unproductive and, above all
inconsistent with the recommendations of the United Nations on security.
He stated that instead of giving more concentration on the
prevention of crimes, all that is always emphasized in the society is
corruption stressing that the most productive means of eradication is to
strategically launch attack through effective preventive measures. Ekpo said,
“Ninety percent of the time, we talk about corruption. No one spends time to
talk about anti-corruption. There is a clear distinction between corruption and
other financial crimes.”
In his explanation before the Senate Committee on Anti-Corruption
and Financial Crimes at the Senate Wing of the National Assembly, Ekpo irately
stated that the anti-graft agency is currently handling over 400
corruption-related cases across various courts in the country which he said
take most of the fund allocated to the Commission. He however blamed the
previous administrations for the inability of the Commission to operate
effectively due to inadequate budgetary allocations. According to him, “People
did not know that we had about 400 cases going on at the beginning of the year.
We had to place advertisement for Nigerians to know what is happening. ICPC has
been in the forefront of educating Nigerians on anti-corruption.”
He added that almost all in the budgetary provision earmarked
for the Commission are annually spent on the prosecution of cases rather than
on preventive measures. He said, “Our budgetary provisions every year have
always been on fighting corruption. Only 10 percent is budgeted for prevention.
Corruption is a transnational issue. It goes beyond Nigeria.”
The ICPC boss also supports the government’s initiative of a
Treasure Single Account stating that it is a welcome development which will be
of immense value towards the preventive security. He added that his agency had
put in measures to ensure compliance on the TSA, adding that it was
collaborating with the Federal Inland Revenue Service to boost government
revenue through taxes.
In response, the Chairman of the Senate Committee, Senator
Chukwuka (PDP) representing Enugu North who acknowledged that the most
prominent agenda in the President Mohammadu Buhari’s administration is the
fight against corruption, also pledged that his committee would network with
all the anti-corruption agencies in the country to ensure that the high
expectations of the citizenry particularly on areas of corruption is surpassed
by drastically reducing it to its barest minimum.
