government White Paper on the civil disturbances that occurred at the Lekki
Free Trade Zone late last year which resulted to the untimely death of the

note of that at all times.
In a statement by his Chief Press Secretary, Habib Haruna,
the governor was reported to have appealed to all the stakeholders to sheathe
their sword in the interest of peace and tranquility in the area.
“The disturbances we have had at the Lekki Free Trade Zone are not acceptable as we must join hands
together to allow peace to reign”, he said.
It will be recalled that following the assassination of Disu
by unknown assailants during his official intervention-visit to one of the
warring communities in the zone, the state government set up a 5-man Panel of Enquiry
headed by a retired Judge of the state High Court, Justice Adesuyi Olateru-Olagbegi
to investigate and make recommendations towards restoring peace and harmony
among the residents of the areas.
According to report, the committee which has submitted it
report to the state governor received a total of 22 memoranda, 33 witnesses and
24 recommendations adding that it considered the remote causes as well as ways
to prevent reoccurrences of the disturbances.
